‘’I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their character’’ – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Chubby Checker
1963 starts off with a lawsuit against Chubby Checker and his team, as Gary U.S. Bonds sued him for plagiarism.
There isn’t a lot going on in November 1962, so hopefully, the albums I’ve managed to rustle up will make this into something memorable.
There are a lot of fantastic artists releasing new music this month, but there’s no point in pretending that the debut single from The Beatles isn’t the one that bears the burden of expectations. Not necessarily back then, but to me anyway.
On February 13, Brian Epstein met with George Martin, record producer at EMI Records, to talk about The Beatles.
Sosialistisk Folkeparti (The Socialist Party) was formed in Norway. You know, the people that a lot of Americans thinks are the devil. With evil men and women like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez running their mouth about how they want a better life for all Americans.
Even though we can track The Beatles all the way back to 1957, I’ve decided to not write about them until now. But they weren’t even called The Beatles back then, so I’ve come to the conclusion that I did the right thing here. In 1957 the it was John Lennon’s band and they were called the Quarry Men. And to be perfectly honest; it didn’t really become interesting until Paul McCartney joined in.
September 1960 saw the birth of the very first prime time animated show on television; The Flintstones. The antics of Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble have put a smile on people’s faces for quite a few decades now. And even though it’s been some years since I’ve watched it, I’ll still sing the theme song every now and then.
Cassius Clay made his entrance on the boxing scene for real in the summer Olympic games in Rome, 1960. He knocked down all his competitors and brought home the gold medal. And he stayed on top of the world from that point on.
Even though the albums released this month wasn’t up my alley doesn’t make June a complete disaster. The Ventures, Chubby Checker and Fats Domino all released some pretty good singles, and at least one of them is a pretty massive addition to music history.
